Chelsea Manning, the whistle blower who exposed the war crimes, lies and illegal killings conducted by the US in Iraq and Afghanistan, was released from military prison on May 17, 2017. Despite the conditions and treatment that has been described as “torture” by journalists that have maintained contact with her throughout her imprisonment, she has remained a model of compassion, bravery and morality.
Journalist Glenn Greenwald wrote a great article describing what led to Manning’s leaks, her trial and the personal issues that she has had to endure.
Please join Veterans for Peace in celebrating her release, welcoming her home, and calling for the ethical and moral treatment of all individuals regardless of their gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion, or economic situation. Justice is the foundation of peace, and must be demanded in all situations.
